With the help of Safari you can explore the world wide web. Since Safari is the default web browser for iOS, iPadOS and macOS, you can easily open URLs and other links directly in this web browser. You may accidentally close a page or tab. You can also easily reopen these closed web pages.
You can of course search for the page in question in your history, but it is slightly easier to immediately reopen the closed tab. This may be done at the place where you left off and in some cases even with your own entered text or other content.
Reopen closed web pages for iPhone
- Open Safari
- Tap the overlapping squares at the bottom
- The page overview opens
- Place your finger on the plus button for a few moments
- In the overview, tap the web page you closed

Open closed web pages via iPad
On an iPad, you can immediately tap the plus button in Safari’s toolbar to open the list of recently closed web pages. Select the desired one from the list and it will open immediately.
Reopen closed tabs on a Mac
Open Safari and click the plus button in the tab bar. Hold the click until the list of recently closed web pages opens. Now drag the mouse pointer down while holding the click and choose a page from the list to open it. Too complicated? Then you can also open this list from macOS Sierra via Menu bar â–¸ History â–¸ Recently closed or by clicking on the plus button with a secondary click (more info)
Only in the current session
In some cases the above only works in the current session, when you close Safari completely the recently closed pages are removed from the list. You can then consult them via the traditional Safari history.
