Gaming monitors are plentiful these days. How does the AOC AG324UX gaming monitor perform in our review?

The most important specifications for super fast and stable image reproduction in gaming monitors are the time to write a pixel and the frequency for the image refresh. The larger the screen and the higher the resolution of a screen, the more difficult it becomes to achieve this. AOC offers nice gaming monitors, such as the AOC CQ32G1. The new AOC AG324UX gaming monitor from the AGON4 series achieves great results in combination with a 31.5-inch UHD or 4K screen.

Design AOC AG324UX
The 31.5 inch matte IPS screen is encased in a sturdy black metal sleek frame with narrow edges that is placed on a sturdy wide V-shaped base (64 x 40 cm) that, at the back, is equipped with a handle, red accents and a built-in switchable logo projector. At the bottom and back of the screen we see light bars whose mode and intensity of the RGB colors can be controlled with Light FX and also turned off.

Resolution and more specifications
The 4K/UHD screen has a resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels that yields a 16:9 aspect ratio. IPS stands for good viewing angles and wide color reproduction. For this monitor, the manufacturer reports 125% SRGB and 100% DCI-P3. This screen is also very suitable for photo and video editing. The screen is delivered with an SRGB calibration report. The typical specifications for gaming are: 1ms CTG/MRPT response time and 48 to 144Hz refresh rate. The maximum brightness is 350 nits. AMD Adaptive Sync can be used for optimal communication with the video controller for a stable image. Improved color and contrast reproduction is achieved with HDR (Vesa Certified DisplayHDR 400).

Connections
The monitor can be connected via DisplayPort 1.4 to a DP or USB-C connector. In addition, two HDMI 2.1 connections are available, where the refresh can be set to 120 or 144 Hz. A USB 3.2/5GHz hub with KVM switch is built-in with 4 USB connections. In addition to DisplayPort, the USB-C connector also supports charging connected devices such as a laptop with a maximum of 90 watts. There is also a 3.5mm microphone input and headphone output. There are two 4 watt speakers with better than average sound for a monitor.

OSD
On-Screen-Display (OSD) control is multiple via a rear joystick or a separate round OSD pad that connects via cable and offers a more comprehensive set of gaming settings. In addition, the AOC-G-Menu Windows app can be downloaded for OSD control via the screen and keyboard.

Ergonomics
Ergonomic settings include 13 cm height and sufficient options for tilting and turning. The pivot position, for placing the screen vertically, is also present and is useful for the accessibility of the connectors. The power consumption is a maximum of 57 watts and 0.5 watts in standby. The power-on/off button is hidden between the connections on the back.

Test
We tested the monitor for a while and are pleased with the sharpness and color quality of the image. When displaying test screens, we see the uniformity across the screen deviating slightly. HDR400 works, but the effect is limited due to the maximum brightness of 350 nits. All in all, AOC AG324UX is a fully equipped and therefore universally usable monitor with a hefty price.
