Tired of Windows’ built-in search function and ready for something new? With Flow Launcher you get access to a new search function and ‘app launcher’ in one. You set a keyboard shortcut, for example Alt + Spacebarand the Flow Launcher window will immediately appear. You can then use the compact list to open apps or search for specific local files.
Flow Launcher also allows you to search ‘in apps’, such as searching the internet favorites from a browser like Edge or Chrome. Like the Start menu search box, you can also use the field to run system commands, if you like to use that. Consider pinging another machine on the network or quickly shutting down the computer via a ‘shutdown’ command. The box adds extra intelligence: you can also use the box as a calculator to perform calculations. The answer appears immediately and is ready to copy to another program.
Not satisfied with the appearance? The makers have introduced a community in which fellow users have their own skins can share. In addition, you can extend the standard search functionality with plugins. For example, there are plug-ins available that allow you to search through Spotify and extensions that allow you to browse your Steam game library.
