The Chinese Hisense stands out
with TVs with a good price/performance
ratio. We look at the 65” MiniLED,
model 65U8NQ.
Hisense TV

This TV, with anti-reflective coating, has Full Array Local Dimming with 1600 fields for high contrast. The image with Quantum Dot Color technology and up to 3000nits brightness therefore looks very good. HDR video gives an extra boost in color and clarity. The viewing angle is not optimal as the image loses color quite quickly if you are not sitting directly in front of it.

The sound comes via 50W 2.1.2 channels and sounds reasonable, but it is better to play it via a good soundbar or AV amplifier. All sound formats are transmitted via the HDMI-eARC port. Other communication runs via Coax/DVB, CI+, E’net, Wifi5, Bluetooth, USB, Chromecast and AirPlay.

The Smart platform is Hisense VIDAA7. The emphasis is on discovering content. In addition, there is a lot of advertising and a number of NL apps and smart integration are missing. Gaming is well supported by VRR (Freesync Premium) and ALLM (Auto Low Latency Mode). Two HDMI 2.1 ports offer 144Hz, the other two 60Hz.

The very complete Hisense U8N provides a good quality image and reasonable sound. This model is recommended if you want a 65” model TV with a colorful and clear image and good gaming facilities for an attractive price. The device is less interesting if a wide viewing angle is desired and good quality upscaling is required for playing low-resolution (home) videos.
