iiyama’s line of gaming monitors is called G-Master. The G-Master GB3271QSU Red Eagle in this line is a 32-inch qhd monitor with nice gaming specifications.
Gaming monitors must meet certain conditions, such as a fast build-up time per pixel and a fast image refresh time. This is to be able to display the fast image changes of the computer game on the screen, preferably in combination with a high resolution. This monitor achieves an image refresh time of up to 165 Hz in combination with qhd resolution, which is a nice result. In addition, this monitor has the dynamic image synchronization technology AMD Freesync Premium, whereby the monitor can synchronize the image refresh without hitches and thus optimally with the graphics card and thus with the computer game.
The G-Master GB3271QSU-B1 has a hefty 32-inch matte IPS panel with true-to-color images and a 178° wide viewing angle. The resolution is qhd, which stands for 2560×1440 pixels, bringing the pixel density to 93 ppi. That’s a pretty good resolution for a 32-inch screen. The color coverage is quite wide and covers 100% sRGB. The specified pixel time is 1 ms and the maximum frame rate is 165 Hz. The maximum brightness is 400 nits, with the monitor suitable for HDR. All in all, values that make it a great gaming screen.
The monitor can be connected via 2x HDMI 2.0 (2560×1440@144Hz) and 2x DisplayPort 1.2 (2560×1440@165Hz). For the maximum frame rate, the monitor must therefore be connected via DisplayPort. AMD’s Freesync Premium calls for a sync of 48-144 Hz at HDMI and up to 165 Hz at DisplayPort. There is a built-in USB3 hub (5 Mbps) with four ports. The sound is produced by 2x 3watt speakers and sounds reasonable. A 3.5mm jack is available for headphones.
The maximum ergonomic settings can be achieved by pivoting on the sturdy base, 12 cm height adjustment and tilting. Pivot, for vertical use, is not supported with this large screen. Other mounting methods are available via the 10cm VESA mount. A power, USB, HDMI and DisplayPort cable are included. The power on/off and image settings can be adjusted via five buttons at the bottom right. This is often a bit difficult and that is why we are happy with the supplied remote control, which makes the OSD operation more convenient. In addition to the default settings, anti-flicker, blue light reduction and black tuner, for image optimization in shadow areas, are available.
The practical test provides a clear and tight picture. The colors are slightly different compared to a calibrated screen and are most correct in standard color mode.
In summary, a nice and neat screen with gaming specifications up to 165Hz refresh rate, but also perfectly usable for standard office automation activities. There is no USB-C connection, which we see more and more on laptop systems.
