Omajin Smart Plug
Smart plugs are plentiful and in various price ranges. With a smart plug you can switch an electrical device on and off, regardless of location, via the Omajin app or smart assistant, voice or otherwise. This white smart plug has many functions.
Operation
Communication is via the 2.4GHz WiFi band without the need for a bridge. The maximum switching power is a maximum of 3680 watts or 15A/240V. The measurement of the consumed power and direct display of mains voltage/current/power and kWh per day/month is available in the app. For automated switching, there are many timers available in the app, including: Countdown, Schedule, Cycle, Random, Block Time and Automatic with adjustable times linked to sunrise and sunset.
All app-controlled actions are logged, the power consumed can be deleted and the manual control light can be switched off or not. A child lock prevents children from switching the plug on and off.
Usage
We have linked the smart plug to Google Home and Alexa Amazon, so that we can also control it with voice. Unfortunately, Apple Homekit is not supported. The packaging states that this plug should also work with Bluetooth for local use without internet. However, we have not been able to get that working and the documentation does not say anything about it.
We would have liked to see the button for manual operation with on/off indicator light on the side for better direct visibility of the status. The texts in the app are small and therefore somewhat difficult to read.
Conclusion
All in all, the Omajin Smart Plug is a smart plug with a lot of functionality but with a number of areas for improvement. In our opinion, the score of 3 stars is too poor for a good purchase.
