The Shuttle DS50U7 is a quiet mini-pc in barebone-form. So a number of components still have to be added to make the device operational, including memory, storage and OS.
The DS50U7 is a black cabinet of 20 x 16.5 x 3.95 cm that is executed without a fan and therefore silent. There is a motherboard with an i7-1355U (1.7-5 GHz) processor with integrated graphic controller for 4K with 60Hz image, two slots For memory up to max. 2x 32GB DDR5-5200. For data storage there are two M.2-2280-slots for 1x PCI4 and 1x SATASDs and a 2.5 inch lock For a SATASD. The M2-2230-lock is for an optional Wi-Fi 6/BT5.2 module for which the antenna cables are already present. The two LAN ports work at speeds of 1 and 2.5 Gbps.
Monitors can be connected simultaneously via HDMI 2.0B, DisplayPort1.4 and VGA. There is a whole range of USB ports with 2x USB-A/10Gbps, 4x USB-A/5Gbps and 2x USB/0.5Gbps, further audio in/off and an RS232 COM port.
This mini-PC is therefore suitable for Windows and Linux and applicable for standard office automation, multimedia processing and experimental applications. The components are easy to apply, in our case a 16GB Corsair memory module and Samsung 990 EVO plus 1TB-SSD and we install Windows 11. The test results look good, where PCmark10 achieves a nice score of 5591. The consumption is approximately 7 W at idle And rises to around 39 W with full use: the energy consumption is therefore low.
All in all, the Shuttle Barebone DS50U7 Mini-PC is a silent mini-power patient that can be further dressed as desired.
