News medium De Correspondent has launched its own app. Here members can listen to podcasts and audio stories, as well as share their own experiences.
The Correspondent
Previously, audio stories by De Correspondent could only be listened to via SoundCloud. Now the website has decided to bundle everything into one app. Here you can listen to correspondents reading great stories. The podcasts of the news site can also be found here.
The Correspondent says he developed the app for four reasons. First, to make it easy to hear the stories and to increase the ease of use for podcasts.
Privacy also played a role: trackers watched via SoundCloud. The biggest reason is independence: on its own app, the news medium is not dependent on other audio apps, as is the case with SoundCloud or Spotify.
The app, like the website, is only accessible to members. When you start the app for the first time, you have to log in. Then you will see the latest story of the day on the Homescreen. Here you will also find the stories you were listening to and an overview of all audio stories and podcast episodes.
Under the ‘Recent’ tab, you’ll see all audio stories and podcasts in order of published date. Do you want to listen something? Then you only have to tap the story to open the player. Here you will immediately see a short introduction of the audio story.
The Correspondent app provides a platform for knowledge and experiences
The nice thing about the app is that it immediately offers a platform to share your knowledge and experiences. You can also ask questions to the correspondent. This is possible when you are listening to a story. Unfortunately, you can only listen to stories on the app for the time being, but De Correspondent promises to add the option in the future to also be able to read all stories via the app.
Are you a true podcast fan? Then there are more ways to listen to it. You can of course listen to this via Spotify, but Google also recently released a handy podcast app. You can also listen to podcasts via your Apple Watch. We explain how you do that.
