PC-Active tested the Woox R3569, a well-priced PTZ security camera with solar panel and a substantial discount of almost 50% for HCC members.
Aad Munsterman
The smart Woox R3569 outdoor security camera is a so-called PTZ camera, where PTZ stands for Pan/Tilt/Zoom or turn/tilt/zoom. This camera is 11.5 x 14 x 14 cm (W x H x D) in size and weighs 245 grams. It also comes with a separate handy solar panel for charging the non-replaceable 5200mAh battery (can also be charged via USB-C). The Woox R3569 is only available in black and must be mounted on a vertical surface, furthermore the IP65 value indicates that it is dust and splash water resistant.
Specifications
The Woox R3569 is set to a livestream video resolution of 2304 by 1296 pixels (3 MP) by default. Or you can choose SD image (640 x 360 pixels) to save storage space. The whole thing works wirelessly via 2.4GHz Wi-Fi. The camera has dual voice: you can talk to someone and that person can also talk (back). There is also sound and motion detection with adjustable sensitivity, a siren and 4 infrared LEDs for up to 10 meters. Finally, you can choose between black and white and color for night recordings with the Color Night or Smart Night options.
Installation
The installation is done via the WOOX app and the included manual is limited. But on pcactive.nl there is an extensive manual that Woox made available to us with the online review. The Pan has a wide panoramic range of 340 degrees and the Tilt a range of 157 degrees vertically. The Zoom control is via spread/pinch on the screen. For image storage you can use the Woox cloud service or an optional SD card of max. 128 GB. We see the 3W solar panel doing a good job and keeping the battery charged, but of course it does need sun. Otherwise it has to be charged via USB-C approximately every 4 months.
Practice
The images via the F2.0 high-brightness lens are clear and good. At night, with color images and little ambient light, some image noise can occur. Recordings can be made directly from the live image. The sensitivity of the motion detection can be set to High, Middle and LowIf there are trees, bushes or plants in the field of view and there is a lot of wind, we will see false reports coming in, but you can report these via Pan and Tilt exclude. Triggered images can be excluded via Playback on the timeline. Interesting images can be recorded there (video or photo), after which they can be viewed in the Gallery appear and can be forwarded from there. The time of the recorded image can be seen at the top left. This is a bit difficult to read on a small screen and white sky, but can be seen clearly when enlarged. For security reasons, the SD card cannot be read on a computer.
Conclusion
An attractively priced camera that does its job carefree with sunlight and wifi. The image is fine with clear natural images and at night in color if desired.
