The first unboxings and reviews of the new Apple AirTag can be found online. In this round-up, we list the reviews of a number of international tech critics for you.

AirTag review round-up

Apple’s new AirTags can be ordered in the Netherlands from April 23, but a number of international tech critics had already had the small devices in their hands. The first reactions to the trackers are mostly positive.

Reviewers indicate that AirTags can be found both indoors and at a great distance. Hours of searching for lost items will hopefully be a thing of the past thanks to the new trackers. In this AirTag review round-up, we summarize the first conclusions of renowned foreign media.

The Verge

An AirTag is useful when you have lost something indoors, but The Verge decided to play hide and seek with the tracker in a large, ‘unknown’ city. That ended well: the AirTag was found.

iJustine

Well-known Apple fan iJustine filmed an extensive unboxing and the seamless setup of four AirTags and a number of accessories. This was followed by an AirTag hunt in her home, which showed how accurately the trackers can show their location.

According to the YouTuber, the little devices “work perfectly with the rest of Apple’s ecosystem”.

MKBHD

Also MKBHD, one of the world’s biggest tech YouTubers, is very excited about the new AirTags. Especially when you have lost something at a greater distance, the gadgets work great according to him.

The YouTuber does have some criticisms, however. He calls the trackers “on the thick side” and he would have liked to see them in more colors.

UrAvgConsumer

If it is on UrAvgConsumer let’s ignore all other smart trackers from now on – Apple’s new AirTags are second to none, he says. “You can see exactly how far you are from an AirTag, but also whether it is on the left, right, below or above you.”

More about Apple’s AirTags

The AirTag is Apple’s latest device with a clear goal: to prevent you from losing valuable items. The tracker sends out a signal that is picked up by the ‘Find My app’ which is installed by default on Apple devices. This allows you to find out the exact location. The AirTag can be ordered from Friday 23 April at 14:00 Dutch time in the Netherlands. An AirTag costs 35 euros, or can be ordered in a package of four for 120 euros. The first copies will be delivered in the week of April 30.
