Samsung launches the new feature 3D Map View, which is based on SmartThings and AI. 3D Map View makes smart home control on TVs and home appliances easier.

Today Samsung launches 3D Map View. This feature was first unveiled at CES 2024 and is now available in all countries where users have access to SmartThings.

3D Map View
3D Map View makes smart home control more intuitive and simpler than ever. The feature converts room floor plans into virtual images in the SmartThings app. This allows users to see their devices clearly and easily adjust lighting, temperature, air quality and energy consumption at any time and from anywhere. It is also no longer necessary to search for each device separately for use. Map View shows the entire house at a glance and the map updates in real time as more devices are connected.

Spatial AI
The previous version of Map View was a 2D model and was limited to homes for which a map was already available. The new 3D Map View, on the other hand, uses the Spatial AI in Samsung devices such as the Bespoke Jet Bot [1]. Using the built-in LiDAR sensors [2] the rooms in the house are accurately measured and mapped, making the layout of the house more transparent.
The filter function has also been improved, making monitoring and managing devices more efficient. Before the end of the year, this should lead to a personalized and user-friendly smart service that uses AI characters, as was already unveiled at CES 2024.

Samsung is currently working with construction companies to expand Map View from homes to apartments and office spaces. In this way, the company aims to create smart environments for customers worldwide, with an optimized user experience (UX) for both large signage screens and easy access to key functions via Quick Control.

Availability
Map View is available through the SmartThings app on TVs [3] and on Android and iOS mobile devices [4]. The feature will also be available on additional access points, such as Family Hub refrigerators, in the first half of this year [5].
