Samsung and Google Cloud are entering into a long-term partnership to make Google Cloud’s generative AI technology available to Samsung users worldwide. For example, Google’s Gemini Pro and Imagen 2 introduce text, speech and image functions on the new Samsung Galaxy S24 series.
Samsung and Google Cloud join forces with the announcement of generative AI on the Samsung Galaxy S24 series. Samsung is the first Google Cloud partner to make Gemini Pro and Imagen 2 accessible on Vertex AI via the cloud on its smartphones.
Gemini Pro
Gemini can quickly understand and combine various types of information, such as text, code, images and videos. Samsung applications allow users to take advantage of the summary feature in Notes, Voice Recorder and Keyboard [1]. In addition, the partnership provides access to essential Google Cloud features, including security, safety, privacy and data compliance.
In this collaboration, Samsung is a pioneer as one of the first testers of Gemini Ultra, Google’s most powerful model for complex tasks. The S24 series also uses Gemini Nano, an on-device Language Model (LLM) provided as part of the Android 14 operating system, Gemini’s most efficient model for on-device tasks.

Users of the Galaxy S24 series can also directly use Imagen 2, Google DeepMind’s most advanced text-to-image technology to date. This collaboration makes secure and intuitive photo editing capabilities easily accessible. These functions can be found in Generative Edit [2] in S24’s Gallery app.

“Google and Samsung share the same values when it comes to making technology more accessible to everyone. We are very happy that the Galaxy S24 series is the first smartphone equipped with Gemini Pro and Imagen 2 on Vertex AI,” says Gerben from Walt Meijer, Marketing Manager Mobile eXperiences at Samsung Netherlands. “After extensive testing and comparisons, the Google Cloud and Samsung teams worked together to develop the ultimate Gemini-powered AI experience on Galaxy.”
[1] Galaxy AI features may require an internet connection, login to a Samsung account, and/or an update to the latest Android version. Product functionality may depend on app and device settings. Some features may not be compatible with certain apps or require additional software downloads, such as language packs. Service availability may vary by country, region or market.
[2] Generative Edit requires a network connection and a Samsung account. Editing with Generative Edit results in a reduced photo of up to 12 MP. When saving, a visible watermark will be placed over the photo to indicate that the photo was generated by AI. The accuracy and reliability of the output generated is not guaranteed.
