Samsung Galaxy A51 will now receive two updates per year

From now on, the Samsung Galaxy A51 will only receive two updates per year. The Samsung smartphone, announced in 2020, will receive modified software support and will be ‘downgraded’ from quarterly updates to semi-annual updates. This means that the device will receive one more update every six months.

Samsung Galaxy A51

The Samsung Galaxy A51 was one of the best-selling Android smartphones of 2020 and for good reason. For example, the device had an excellent price-quality ratio and managed to score on the right points. It had a beautiful and above all modern design, a beautiful 6.5-inch AMOLED panel and an extensive camera island with, among other things, a fairly good 48 MP main camera, 12 MP wide-angle lens and a 5 MP macro camera that was really useful.

Semi-annual updates

The Samsung Galaxy A51 was, as already read above, launched in 2020. Samsung promised a little later four years of security updates and three years of Android upgrades for a large part of its devices. The Samsung Galaxy A51 also benefited from this. This means that the device will receive Android upgrades up to and including Android 13 and security updates up to and including 2023.

However, the ‘frequency’ in which this happens does change. For example, the Samsung Galaxy A51 first received a security update every three months, but this will change to one security update every six months.

Android 12 and One UI 4.0

According to Sammobile the Samsung Galaxy A51 should receive the update to Android 12 in the coming weeks. This will be covered by One 4.0, the latest software shell from Samsung. In the video below you can see what your Galaxy A51 will look like with the new software shell, and in this article you can read more about One UI 4.0.
