In addition to an Android version, almost all manufacturers of Android smartphones also supply their own ‘shell’, an own layer over the software, on their devices. That is why the Android devices from Samsung, Huawei, OnePlus, Xiaomi and other brands still look and work differently, as you can read in this article about Android shells. Google allows all these shells, so that brands can distinguish themselves from each other, but does use a (non-public) list of requirements that such a shell must meet. One of these is very visible: the Google apps must be pre-installed and clearly visible. Samsung is releasing an update of their shell: the One UI 4.
Samsung OneUI 4
One UI 4 ensures that you can shape your personal mobile experience according to your wishes and personality. By offering Color Palettes you can easily customize your smartphone: from the home screen to the icons, menus, buttons and background. In addition, you can also personalize your mobile with the newly designed widgets and the wider range of emojis, GIFs and stickers.
Privacy
Samsung brings the latest privacy and security features to One UI 4. This gives you the choice of what to keep private and what to share. This varies from notifications when an app tries to use the camera or microphone to a new privacy dashboard that collects all settings in one place. One UI 4 makes it easier to monitor and control your privacy settings.
The big picture
One UI 4 should help you make the most of Samsung’s vast ecosystem of third-party devices and apps. The collaborations with parties such as Google make it possible to experience your favorite apps and services, such as Google Duo. This allows you to make video calls in high quality.
