Samsung Smart Monitor M8 Series for Home Office

Samsung’s Smart Monitor series was launched in November 2020. It is a lineup of all-in-one displays or versatile display. This way you can enjoy various content1 via, for example, Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Disney+ and Apple TV, without having to connect to a PC or TV. The M8 has a refined, thin design (11.4 mm) and is about three-quarters slimmer than the previous models.

Specifications
The height-adjustable M8 is equipped with a flat 32-inch screen with 3840 x 2160 pixels or UHD resolution with an aspect ratio of 16:9. The maximum brightness is 400 cd/m2, the refresh rate is 60 Hz and the response time is 4 ms (GtG). Furthermore, the contrast ratio is 3000:1, the viewing angles are 178 degrees for both horizontal and vertical and the color coverage is 99% sRGB. There are two USB-C ports and 1 micro HDMI port.

Home Office Monitor
The M8 is primarily a monitor for your home office: you connect to various IT devices via the integrated Smart Hub, without having to start up a computer. The Workspace user interface should provide all the applications needed to work on one screen and you connect wirelessly to a Windows or Mac PC. This way you can efficiently use useful functions, such as Samsung DeX, Apple AirPlay 2 and Microsoft 365 cloud service. You can also easily mirror the screen of your smartphone on the M8.

SlimFit Cam
The Smart Monitor M8 has a magnetic and removable SlimFit Cam, which you can attach wirelessly to the monitor. The SlimFit Cam has face detection and automatic zoom functions, which quickly identify a person’s face and automatically focus on the subject, useful for presentations and live streams. The M8 also supports video chat apps, such as Google Duo. This way you can easily collaborate remotely or hold video conferences.

With the SmartThings Hub you can easily connect your IoT devices to the monitor wirelessly. Via the SmartThings app you can follow the IoT devices throughout your house and read the information about your devices connected to the M8, including light switch and plug. You can control Bixby and Amazon Alexa with voice commands with the sensitive Far Field Voice microphone. In addition, the microphone uses an Always On Voice feature, which displays call information on the screen when Bixby is activated, even when the display is off.

For extra viewing comfort, the screen automatically adjusts the brightness and color temperature to the environment. The M8 has a height-adjustable stand (HAS) and tilt function, so you can use it from a movie night to a work session. The Smart Monitor M8 has received a CES Innovation Awards Honoree from the CTA (Consumer Technology Association) in recognition of a wide range of display technologies.

Prices, availability and colors
The Smart Monitor M8 is available in the Netherlands for a suggested retail price of € 799. It is available in four new colours: Warm White, Sunset Pink, Daylight Blue and Spring Green. “We aimed to create a product that fits everyone’s lifestyle and preferences,” says Evert Van Camp, Display Director of Samsung Benelux. “The color palette of the M8, which consists of four colors, is inspired by the theme ‘Shades of Nature’, from a clear blue sky on a clear sunny day, to the lush green forest or the glow of a sunset.”
