Send large files to other people from Gmail, such as a collection of photos. Google uses Google Drive, the company’s online storage service, for this.
Send large files
Google Drive can be used by anyone with a Google account. Drive is an online repository where you can keep files. Very handy, because you can store a total of 15 GB of data for free. If you’re trying to send a file that’s actually too large for the regular mail to send, Google Drive comes into play.
- Go to www.gmail.com
- Log in if you are not already logged in.
- Click on the top left draw up.
- A blank email message appears. Enter the recipient’s details and type the content of your email.
- Click on the image of the paperclip at the bottom of the mail window.
- The Explorer opens.
- Browse to the correct folder.
- Click on the desired file(s). Hold down the Ctrl key to select multiple files from the same folder.
- click on To open.
- A message will appear that large files must be shared with Google Drive. The files larger than 25 MB will be uploaded to Google Drive. click on OK.
- The files that are too large will be uploaded to Google Drive. You will see the progress in the window. When it’s done, you’ll see your email window again. The files are attached to the email. You can recognize it by the blue links with the name of the file. You can now send your mail, by clicking at the bottom on Send.
- A message may appear stating that the recipients cannot access the files. You can then specify how the files should be shared in Google Drive. Click on the bar next to ‘Anyone with the link’. The options ‘may comment’, ‘may edit’ and ‘may view’ appear. Click on your choice.
