Send telegram or WhatsApp messages via Siri

With the help of an iPhone and Siri you can easily send messages via a different app than the standard iOS Messages app. For example, you can send messages with WhatsApp or Telegram with the speech assistant.

When you ask Siri to send a message, you can now select which Message app should be used on your iPhone for this. So you can now also send a message via Siri with, for example, WhatsApp or Telegram. This new option is available in all apps from developers who support the ‘use with question it up to Siri’.

‘Ask Siri’ checks settings

Whether an app supports the new feature can be checked in the app settings. It is possible that this function is not set as standard for an app.

Send telegram or WhatsApp messages via Siri

Follow the steps below to activate the function or to check whether it is activated.

  1. Go to ‘Siri and search’
  2. Swipe down until you see the app overview
  3. Tap the app for which you want to adjust/check the function

If the option ‘Use with ask Siri’ is enabled for an app, you can select it when you ask Siri to send a message to a contact person.

‘Use asking it up to Siri’

If ‘use with a question of Siri’ is activated for an app (as described above), you can use this app to send a message. Sending a message then goes as follows:

Send telegram or WhatsApp messages via Siri
  1. Activate Siri with ‘Hey Siri’ or ‘Siri’, you can also use the right side button on iPhone for this. Hold these a few moments into that Siri is activated.
  2. Then ask Siri to send a message to one of your contacts.
  3. “Send Wesley a message”
  4. A message card now appears on the screen of your iPhone. By tapping the app symbol for the addressee you will see an overview of available apps.
  5. Select one of the Message Apps with which you want to send the message in the list. Other apps can also be found in this list that cannot send messages.
  6. Type your message and then tap the ‘Send’ button.

The message is now sent via the selected app, new messages in the conversation will now be answered automatically via the selected app.

If the contact person is not found in the selected app, indicated on the message card.

Use whatsapp or telegram in a siri assignment

After ‘Use with a question of Siri’ is activated for an app, you can also immediately mention the app itself in the Siri assignment. For example, if you want to send a message with Siri via WhatsApp, you activate Siri and say:

Send a message to [persoon] Via WhatsApp

Of course you can also use Siri in this way to send a message via Telegram.
