Best iOS Games September 2020
1. iPhone game of the month: The Unfinished Swan
In The Unfinished Swan you discover the world in a special way. Everything around you is white, so you have no idea where you are or where to go. By throwing paint it becomes clear where walls and other obstacles are.
The game is about a kid named Monroe. His mother was a painter, who never finished her paintings. When she died, the orphanage where Monroe ended up allowed him to take one painting with him. He chose The Unfinished Swan.
One night he woke up and saw that the swan had disappeared from the painting. Tiny paw prints ran from the painting to a small door. With his mother’s brush in hand, Monroe goes through that door to find the swan.
Bursting with creativity
While throwing paint, you discover a whole new story in this white world. It is not for nothing that all color has disappeared. A king thought that no color was good enough for his beautiful garden.
This story has a direct impact on the world. Because as soon as the king chooses to paint shadows, you suddenly see the environment full of shapes. Later, the game even adds color and it is no longer about finding the way, but following the story and solving puzzles.
The Unfinished Swan is not a long game. You can probably get through it in about an hour. But in that hour the game always manages to surprise you by adding new elements. The Unfinished Swan is bursting with creativity and makes you think creatively to move forward.
The Unfinished Swan is a bit older. In 2012, the game was released for game consoles and PC and later the game studio surpassed itself with the beautiful What Remains of Edith Finch. Hopefully we’ll be able to play that game on our iPhone soon too. Until then, The Unfinished Swan in 2020 is still an insanely fun game to enjoy.
2. The Last Campfire (Apple Arcade)
The Last Campfire is an endearing adventure game from the people behind the great game No Man’s Sky. This time the team is taking it a lot smaller. You follow a creature that has ended up in a strange world. He has to escape from that. You do this by avoiding dangers and solving puzzles. Both flat puzzles and puzzles in the environment itself.
The Last Campfire manages to maintain the balance between touching and challenging, resulting in a game that will keep you hooked for hours and an adventure that will linger for a long time.
3. EVE Echoes
The infinitely large game EVE is now playable on your iPhone. EVE Echoes is a great online game with a huge universe, where the stories are created by the players themselves. Stepping into this world with your small spaceship is overwhelming, but it’s more than worth it to discover what this place has in store for you.
4. A Monster’s Expedition (Apple Arcade)
In A Monster’s Expedition, you are a monster who sets out on what was once Earth. He hops from island to island, but can only progress if he correctly places trees between the islands.
He can push and roll those trees, but once they roll he can’t stop them. So you have to puzzle well. Can’t you go any further? Then you just go the other way!
5. Tintin has them sorted
‘Tintin has them in a row’ is nothing you haven’t seen before, but it is the nice Tintin decoration that makes the game a must. Sure to get your kids more familiar with Tintin, Captain Haddock, Bobby and more characters.
In the game you drag three blocks of the same color together to remove them. By solving puzzles you unlock all kinds of locations for Tintin to discover.
