Everyone takes a lot of photos these days, thanks in large part to the great cameras that smartphones have. When you have a lot of photos, you might forget some moments. Thanks to Memories in Photos, you can rediscover old photos in a special way, and since tvOS 17 you can also set them up on an Apple TV.
The feature uses all the photos and videos in the Photos app for iPhone, iPad and Mac. Using algorithms and associations, photos and videos are placed in a collection. These are synced across all your devices and are also available on an Apple TV.
Apple TV Review
It’s been possible to view your Memories on Apple TV for a while now. This can be done via the Photos app and is made possible thanks to iCloud Photos. Before you can view them and set them as a screenshot, iCloud must be enabled for Photos.

You can do this via Settings ▸ Accounts ▸ iCloud ▸ log in if necessary ▸ enable ‘iCloud Photo Library’. Click here for more information. Then open Photos on your Apple TV and wait a few moments until iCloud Photo Library is activated.
Set Flashback as a screen saver
- Open Settings on the Apple TV
- Go to ‘General’
- Select ‘Screen Saver’
- Go to ‘Type’
- Select ‘My Photos’
- Select ‘Review’

tvOS will automatically set the screensaver to memories. Return to the menu to further adjust this if necessary. For example, you can choose to have Apple TV use only your favorite memories instead of all of them.
