What is Find My Network?

In previous versions of iOS and macOS, devices could only be located when they were connected to the Internet. Great solution, but limited. Since iOS 13 and macOS Catalina, the Find My app can also locate devices that are offline. The Bluetooth chip in the device is used for this all iPhones, iPads and Macs that are nearby, you don’t have to be the owner of them.

The offline function works as follows: the Bluetooth chip of the lost device sends out an energy-efficient signal that can be picked up by other iPhone, iPads and Macs running the latest software. These devices can then anonymously retrieve the location data of your lost device and forward it to the Apple servers so that you can locate and possibly block your product via the Find My function. This will help all Apple users find lost devices.

Search and locate your Apple devices via iCloud

If your iPhone, iPad, Mac or other device is lost, or worse stolen, you can get it via iCloud.com or locate via the Find My application. From this app and web page you can then block the Apple product and possibly also delete your personal data by restoring it.

You can also play a message and/or sound on the missing device, so that the finder can contact you directly. You can find more information about these different options via the links below.
