Set up night light in Windows 10

2104 night lamp

Set the Windows 10 Night Light to dim the light from the display at night.

Just like on tablets and smartphones, the Night Light in Windows 10 dims the (often bright) light from the screen at desired times. This is especially nice in the evening and in the morning. The bluish light from a screen makes it harder to fall asleep or your eyes are sore in the morning. With Night lamp, the light is less bright.

Night light is off by default. Easily turn on the Night Light from dusk to dawn. Of course only if the PC is on at that moment. Windows itself monitors what time the sun sets.

  • Click the Start button.
  • click on Institutions (the gear icon).
  • click on System.
  • Click on the left if necessary Display.
  • click on Night light settings.
  • Under ‘Schedule – Set Night Light’, click the slider. This one is white and it says ‘Off’ next to it.
  • The background of the button turns blue and the text ‘On’ appears. By default, the ‘Sunset to sunrise’ option is selected. Do you want to set other times? Then select Set hours.
  • Under ‘Enable’ and ‘Disable’ are digital clocks. Click on this and select the correct hours and minutes. Then click on the check mark.
  • Would you rather have the default setting? Then click on Sunset to sunrise.
  • Night lamp is on and switches on and off automatically at the set times. Click on the arrows at the top left until the main menu appears.
  • Click on the cross at the top right of the window to close the Settings.
