On the way to an appointment with someone? Share the progress of the trip via Google Maps, and your appointment will always know where you are.

An appointment with someone and running late? This is often followed by a message or call informing you that you are on your way. That could be more convenient. Especially if you use the navigation function of Google Maps to arrive at your destination. Share the progress of the trip so your appointment knows how long it will take to get there.

Share your live location like this:

  • Open the Google Maps app.
  • Tap on Search here, type the destination and tap the desired suggestion.
  • Tap on Route > Start.
  • At the bottom is a white bar. Swipe it up.
  • Tap on Share journey progress.
  • Tap on To allow when Google Maps requests access to your contacts.
  • There are already some contacts under the part-time section. Tap a contact. Can’t find the right person? Then swipe from right to left on the contacts, tap More and then the desired contact.
  • If the recipient of the message does not have a Google account associated with the email address or phone number, a warning will appear. Tap on OK.
  • Tap on To share.
  • Do you send the location to a phone number? Then tap send

The recipient can track the progress of the journey and the arrival time via a link to Google Maps.
