Shoot with your voice

Always the one with his eyes closed on a group selfie or just looking the wrong way? Enable voice command on the Galaxy S smartphones to get everyone in the picture.

By saying ‘cheese’, smile’, ‘capture’ or ‘shoot’ when you want to take a photo, an on-screen timer tells you how long until the photo is taken. So you can focus on your best pose. An additional advantage: because you do not have to press the shutter button, you can hold the phone with both hands. That reduces the chance of blurred photos. Recording videos is also a lot easier this way. Say “Record video” and the recording will start.

Setting up voice control on the Samsung Galaxy S5 and later models is as follows:

  • Open the Camera app.
  • Tap a gear icon.
  • Optionally tap Recording Methods.
  • Tap the slider next to “Voice command” so it turns blue.
  • Tap the left arrow at the top.
  • Take a test shot by saying “shoot.”

The timer will appear and a photo will be taken.
