Sign up for public beta of iOS 18, iPadOS 18, macOS 15, watchOS 11 and more

During WWDC 2024, Apple announced iOS 18, iPadOS 18, macOS Sequoia, tvOS 18 and watchOS 11. The new software can be downloaded for free for everyone this fall, but for those who cannot wait there is good news, the public beta will be available this summer.

Through the public beta you have the option to install iOS 18, iPadOS 18, macOS 15, tvOS 18, watchOS 11 and trial version for HomePod on your Apple devices earlier. Apple has announced that this beta will be available in July. Apple is opening the beta to the public to get more testers of the software to identify and fix bugs and errors before the final release.

To download and install the public betas, you must first register on the Apple beta page. You can read exactly how this works below.

  1. Navigate to this beta page
  2. Scroll down and click on ‘Sign up’
  3. Sign in with your Apple ID
  4. Agree to the terms

From that moment on, you will be a public beta tester and you will soon be able to download the new software versions earlier. It is currently possible to download the public beta of macOS Sonoma and iOS 17. You can read exactly how this works here on appletips.

Don’t want to wait? Then you can register as a free developer. Apple has adjusted the memberships for developers and makes it possible to now already install the software update for free.

Not without risks

NB: Betas can be slow, often have a large number of bugs, and can negatively impact your device’s battery life and storage. In addition, certain apps may no longer work or may experience problems. Installing a test version is not without risks and can result in a complete reinstallation of your iPhone, iPad or Mac!
