Simyo receives support for 5G: extra affordable on the fast mobile data network

From November 1, Simyo customers can use the 5G network. It does not matter whether you have a subscription or prepaid with the provider. This allows you to use the fast mobile data network extra cheaply.

Simyo was one of the few ‘large’ players on the market that did not yet offer 5G. Thanks to the adjustment, existing and new customers automatically gain access to the 5G network at no additional costs.

Speed Simyo 5G

With Simyo 5G on your phone you will experience faster and, above all, more stable high-speed internet. You can download at a maximum of 300 Mbps, upload at a maximum of 150 Mbps. It is good to know that performance depends on your phone, the coverage in your area and the network congestion.

For comparison: The maximum download speed at KPN is 600 Mbit/s, for Odido this is up to 1 GB/s and Vodafone can also reach 1 GB/s. These high speeds are only available to a limited extent and require an expensive subscription.

Simyo uses KPN network

As a Simyo customer, you use the KPN network in the Netherlands. The speed of a mobile data connection is partly determined by the type of network connection. Via KPN, Simyo uses three data networks: 2G (GPRS/EDGE), 4G (LTE) and 5G.

Simyo offers standard 5G (maximum 300 Mbps download and 150 Mbps upload) for Sim Only, Prepaid and telephone subscriptions. The KPN network offers 99% 2G coverage. KPN also has a national network for 4G and 5G. View the KPN coverage map to see where the network has coverage.

Difference between 4G and 5G

5G is the fifth generation of mobile technology and the successor to 4G. Compared to 4G, 5G has, among other things, faster data transfer and higher capacity. In addition, 5G internet has a shorter response time. This means, for example, that the time between clicking on an NLziet program and actually playing it will be short. You also benefit from this if you play online games via your smartphone. The last and perhaps most important advantage is that the 5G network is less affected by crowds. For example, you can continue to use the internet in busy places, festivals or a crowded station without any hitches or disruptions.

Discount on Simyo

This means that you can request a second telephone number with calling credit for just €5 and activate it via eSIM on your iPhone.
