Apple has again postponed the release of Siri 2.0. Apple has already announced the completely new version of Siri on the WWDC 2024. The speech assistant becomes much smarter through the introduction of Apple Intelligence. Apple has expanded the speech assistant with new language models, for which the company started working with OpenAI. Siri works much smoother and sounds more natural. It was already clear that this version of Siri would come later, but Apple has now postponed the release even further.
An important change in Siri is that the speech assistant has access to almost all apps. As a result, the speech assistant can perform multiple tasks in succession, which you express in one assignment. Siri can, for example, convert a photo to another file and then send it to a contact person in your list. Now it appears that Apple only releases these functions of Siri much later, also in the countries where Apple Intelligence is already available.
Great delay at Apple
Apple Intelligence can already be used in a number of countries. For example, users in the United States and the United Kingdom can already try part of the new functions. In these countries, the renewed version of Siri is also not yet available, just like in the Netherlands and Belgium. Apple has now confirmed that Siri 2.0 only appears worldwide much later. In a press release, the company already needed more time last week to develop Siri 2.0.
Now the English web pages of a number of iPhones have also been adjusted, in which Apple describes that Siri 2.0 will appear later. On these websites, Apple only writes that the company is working on a version of Siri, who understands the personal context, has screen consciousness and can switch between apps. That version is not available for the time being, but only comes to the iPhone, iPad and Mac with a later software update. This can now also be read on Apple’s own website.
Release Siri 2.0 unknown
Apple therefore has major problems with the new generation of Siri. It is unclear what exactly is going on at the company. It is clear that the development of Siri 2.0 needs much more time than previously thought, so Apple is forced to release the new version much later. The English version of Siri has already been expanded with new language models, making communication more natural.
In addition, with the renewed version of Siri it is possible for the first time to ask written questions. Previously, Siri only worked with speech assignments. All other new functions only appear much later, it is not known when Siri 2.0 will be rolled out. There is a good chance that we will have to wait until next year in the Netherlands and Belgium before we can get started with the more advanced version of Siri. The English variant of Siri 2.0 can probably already be used here in 2025, but time will learn.
