SmartThings will soon get Philips Hue Sync support

If you use SmartThings, you will soon be able to do more with Philips Hue. A new update makes it possible to synchronize the lamps with the content on your television.

Ambilight experience

One of the important reasons for many people to buy a Philips television is Ambilight. The LED strips on the back of the device automatically color and flash with the content on the television, where you can set whether that should be to the beat of the music or the colors on the screen. Especially if you have an even wall behind your television, that is a very cool effect.

It is already possible to achieve that Ambilight-like effect with your Philips Hue lamps, but that was not possible in combination with SmartThings. You will soon be able to do that: thanks to a new update that, according to SamMobile coming this summer. It is a support for a new possibility within the synchronization of Philips Hue and because of this your smart lamps react to the content that is seen on your television.

SmartThings and Philips Hue

The update will probably only come after August, because it may not appear until the new Samsung devices are announced. SmartThings gets a major update when Galaxy Z Fold4 and Galaxy Z Flip4 appear on the scene. The devices would be a bit more smart home in any case, with an improved smart home app for larger screens and the ability to automatically scale.

We have yet to see how SmartThings and Philips Hue look together in that Ambilight style. Let’s hope it’s as good an experience as Ambilight on television. SmartThings has already changed slightly. It now has the ability to scenes rearrange them for ease of use.
