Snapchat brings personal geofilters to the Netherlands: that’s how it works

From today it is possible to set your own filters for a specific area with Snapchat. That costs from 6.99 euros.

Snapchat geofilters

Setting up your own geofilters on Snapchat has been possible for a year and a half in the United States, the United Kingdom and Canada. Now the position is finally in the Netherlands, parent company Snap announced on Tuesday.

Personal geofilters allow users to design their own filter and set it in a specific area. People present within that area can share photos and videos with that unique filter. According to Snapchat, this is especially nice during events such as weddings and other parties. It also offers opportunities for festivals or for companies that want to impress with their own filter.

Such a filter does cost money. Prices start from 6.99 euros, but are determined depending on the size of the area. That area can be from 1800 square meters to 450,000 square meters. The duration of the filter also influences the price. One day is required to submit the filter. Snapchat will then assess whether it fits within the rules.
