With the shared passwords from Apple you can safely share passwords and passkeys with a group of familiar people, such as family members or friends. This data is stored encrypted and synchronized via iCloud, where all group members can add, edit and use passwords on their Apple devices.
Unfortunately, it may happen that the shared passwords do not appear on your iPhone, iPad or Mac. The part is empty and when you search for the login details, they will not be followed. Fortunately, there is a solution to solve this problem.
Shared passwords do not appear
If you use shared passwords for iPhone, iPad and Mac, the shared login details will appear in the Apple password app. The shared groups are available among all categories. If there is a synchronization problem you will find that this part is empty and you can only create new groups. With the solution below you can forcing and repairing synchronizing.
Shared passwords recover – Mac
- Open  ▸ System settings
- Navigate to your Apple account
- Click on ‘iCloud’
- Choose ‘Passwords’ at ‘Saved in iCloud’
- Turn off the ‘Synchronize this Mac’ option
- Click on ‘ready’ and close system settings
- Restart your Mac now
Then return to  â–¸ System settings â–¸ Apple Account â–¸ iCloud â–¸ Passwords. Switch on the ‘synchronize this Mac’ option. In the password app, check whether the shared passwords are active again.

Restoring shared groups – iPhone and iPad
- Open Settings on your iPhone or iPad
- Navigate to your Apple account
- Tap ‘iCloud’
- Choose ‘Passwords’ at ‘Saved in iCloud’
- Switch the ‘Synchronize this iPhone/iPad’ option
- Return and leave the Settings app
- Restart your iPhone or iPad
Then return to Settings â–¸ Apple Account â–¸ iCloud â–¸ Passwords. Select the ‘synchronize this iPhone/iPad’ option. In the password app, check whether the shared passwords are active again.
