The Apple Watch contains a pedometer, GPS, heart rate monitor, etc. and all this data is used when performing a Workout. However, in some cases the Apple Watch may no longer accurately record steps, distance or other data during a workout.
You then have the option to recalibrate your Apple Watch so that it correctly measures steps, distance and fitness data again. This is especially smart to do if your Apple Watch reacts too sensitively to movements or, for example, no longer keeps track of the distance properly.
Calibrate Apple Watch via the iPhone app
- Open the Apple Watch iPhone app
- Navigate to ‘Privacy’
- Tap ‘Restore Condition Calibration Data’
Confirm by tapping ‘Restore Fitness Calibration Data’ again, then it will be restored and you should be able to start using the Apple Watch.
In order to properly estimate the data, such as distance, you must go for a brisk walk for 20 minutes after recovering with the help of the workout application. You do this by starting a walking workout and walking briskly for at least 20 minutes, while the Apple Watch records all the data. In addition to the distance, calorie consumption, effort and fitness values are also redetermined during this process.
