The first renders of Sony’s upcoming top phone, the Xperia 1 IV have been leaked. The device has a very recognizable design compared to its predecessor and it retains the 3.5 mm audio jack along with the periscope camera in a vertical camera arrangement.
Sony Xperia 1 IV
In the fall of 2021, Sony surprised by launching an additional flagship with a large 1-inch camera sensor. We could already extensively compare the Xperia Pro-I with the camera of the Google Pixel 6 Pro. Still, that extra launch does not mean that we should not expect a top model from the company in 2022. Renders of the Xperia 1 IV, pronounced “mark four”, have now been leaked. The images are from the reliable OnLeaks†
Sony is a company that has stubbornly followed its own path with its phones for years and everything indicates that the Japanese have no intentions of deviating from that path in 2022. The Xperia 1 IV again gets a 6.5-inch screen with a long 21:9 aspect ratio and the characteristic screen edges at the top and bottom. The panel is again expected to be a 4K display with 120Hz and without rounded sides.
Housing and camera
The dimensions tell us that the phone will be approximately the same size. It measures 164.7 x 70.8 x 8.3mm, compared to 165 x 71 x 8.2 on the Xperia 1 III. When we look at the housing, we again see the volume buttons on the right and the power button that serves as a fingerprint scanner. At the top of the frame there is again room for a 3.5 mm audio jack and the Google Assistant button is notably absent.

The camera setup is also very familiar to us with the Xperia 1 IV. The three camera lenses are arranged vertically and a periscope camera is again provided according to rumors. Sony is said to use a new 50MP main camera and the phone will support 8K video recording for the first time.
availabilty
It is not yet known when we can expect the Sony Xperia 1 IV, but it will probably be sometime in April. The price is not yet known, but according to the leaks it will come in black and green. What is your first impression? Let us know in the comments at the bottom of this article.
