On May 11, Sony is likely to announce its new flagship, the Sony Xperia 1 IV. According to the latest rumors, we don’t have to expect anything exciting from this device. Although the presumed price of 1399 euros is perhaps tension enough. What else exactly do the latest rumors tell us?

In an earlier article we wrote about the teaser video that Sony had put online. In this video, Sony announces it’s time to show the world a new Xperia. The name of the device is not officially known yet, but if we can estimate Sony a bit, the device will be given the nice name ‘Xperia 1 IV’ (Pronounce like ‘Xperia one mark 4’).
Previous renders already gave us a good idea of the upcoming flagship. For example, the device will get a new 50 MP main camera and once again have a 3.5mm audio jack and a 4K OLED panel with a 21:9 screen ratio. The Sony Xperia IV will, as it looks, be the successor to the Xperia 1 III and not the successor to the Xperia Pro-I.

Sony has been doing quirky things for years and seems to be doing this again with the Xperia 1 IV. The brand has its own philosophy which seems to go against the grain a bit. Sebastien also said the following in his review:
Sony does its best to appeal to many specific target groups: from gamers, to photographers and music fanatics. Only the company sometimes makes very idiosyncratic, stubborn choices, so that the Xperia 1 III never succeeds in successfully addressing that broad target group. The phone inadvertently pushes itself towards a niche.
We always see a number of characteristics at Sony. For example, it always sticks to one design for a number of years, something we saw for years with the Sony Xperia Z and its successors. But even now we see this happening with the Xperia 1 line of the brand. Sony also sometimes wants to bite the bullet on one particular feature of a device and then go all out for it, even if the market is not really ready for this. Think, for example, of the various camera apps that the company always provides. and the (expensive) 4K screens, not to mention the special names of the devices.
1399 euros, and what else to expect on May 11?
On May 11, Sony will most likely show the Xperia 1 IV to the world and according to new rumors the manufacturer will give the device a price tag of no less than 1399 euros. This makes the device 100 euros more expensive than its predecessor, which has a price tag of 1299 euros. It is expected that Sony will also announce the Sony Xperia 10 IV. A midrange device with a price of 499 euros.
