Snapchat has recently added support for group video calls. This allows you to add up to fifteen of your friends to a conversation. If you only opt for audio, there is even room for 32 people.
This is how you start a Snapchat group conversation with video
If you have large groups of friends, you will soon be able to speak to them all at the same time with Snapchat. One-on-one conversations have been possible in the chat app for some time, but now group conversations with video and audio are added. If you opt for video, there is room for 16 people at the same time, with audio the maximum is 32. They all appear on your smartphone screen at the same time, so it is certainly chaotic.
The feature is rolling out gradually, but will likely be available to everyone in a few days. Then starting a conversation is quite simple. To do this, follow the steps below.
- Open Snapchat, and swipe left to find your conversation list;
- Open one of your existing group conversations, or start a new group conversation;
- Press the video icon at the bottom right of the screen to start a video call;
- Your other friends are automatically notified that a conversation has started and can join immediately;
- During the conversation you can provide your own head with the well-known Snapchat filters by pressing at the bottom of the screen. For example, opt for the characteristic puppy tongue, or the endless rainbow vomit.

With the new feature, Snapchat hopes to win back users. In recent months, the app has lost many users to Instagram, which is increasingly taking over functions from Snapchat. With new features such as the Snap Map and a fresh design, Snapchat hopes to retain users. Whether it helps is still the question: Instagram would also work on an option for video and audio calls.
