Some YouTube Music users find that their smartphones’ screens remain active. This error occurs on Samsung phones with Android 12L or Pixels with Android 13.
YouTube Music
Does your phone’s battery no longer last that long? In that case it is useful to set a short timeout time for the screen. A screen that turns off faster uses less power, and the screen is the biggest energy consumer of your phone anyway.
That works in theory at least, but currently not for some YouTube Music users. The screen remains active while you play music. A bug in version 5.23.50 of the app is ignoring the timeout time you have set on your phone, and that problem occurs in Android 12L and Android 13. So you can actually experience it if you have a Using Google Pixel or a Samsung smartphone.
Empty battery, hot phone
Fortunately, most users will turn off the screen of their device themselves. If you don’t, you may discover afterwards that your phone has lost a lot of its battery life. If your smartphone was on the charger, it may feel warm to the touch. Google is already aware of the flaw in its music app, and it will roll out a fix with an update.
In May, the company announced that YouTube Music now also works on watches with Wear OS. Since this year, an integration with Snapchat has also been provided.
