Summarizing priority reports, notifications and reducing interruptions with Apple Intelligence

Apple Intelligence tries to help the user with solutions for daily events. A good example of this is prioritize notifications (priority reports). With this function, most important notifications are automatically displayed in a separate section as the first instead of chronologically.

Because Apple Intelligence has extensive language knowledge, you can show the information that is most important to you. Reports are summarized so that you can quickly see the most important information. This is useful, for example, with very active group discussions. In addition, the ‘Limit interruptions’ focus only shows the reports that you require immediate attention, such as a message that you should pick up your child earlier at the daycare.

Support Apple Intelligence

Apple Intelligence can currently be used via a detour in the EU and can also be used in the EU from macOS 15.1, iOS 18.4, iPados 18.4 and Visionos 2.4 when you change the language of your device and Siri to English vs. All supporting devices and languages can be found here.

Apple Intelligence contains priority reports

Priority reports in Apple Intelligence are reports that are automatically arranged and summarized, so that the most important reports appear at the top and users can immediately see what is urgent, such as urgent agreements or important group chat messages.

Enable priority reports

For the time being, MacOS has no possibility to set up priority reports.

Once you have enabled the option, you can possibly deny apps access to this function. This means that applications that you switch off will not appear in the priority overview.

In previous versions of iOS and iPados, the user already had the option to use a report overview with similar functions. However, the priority overview is more tailored to the user and can also use the content of notifications to determine whether the notification is displayed.

Summarize notifications

Long or stacked reports can be summarized on the iPhone, iPad and Mac with Apple Intelligence. This way you can quickly see what you need to know. This is especially useful for group discussions or updates from a news app.

  • Open Settings on your iPhone or iPad
  • Navigate to ‘Notifications’ (reports)
  • Tap ‘Summaria Notifications’ (summarizes reports together)
  • Enable the option of the same name

Take the steps on the screen to personalize the summaries of reports. After that you can also deny apps access to summarizing so that the full reports are always displayed.

On a Mac you can enable and manage notifications via  â–¸ System Settings (System Settings) â–¸ Notifications (notifications) â–¸ Click on ‘Summarium notifications’ (summarizes notifications together) â–¸ Select the option option in â–¸ Switched on or off.

Limit interruptions use focus

The Focus ‘Reduce Interruptions’ (Limit interruptions) understands the content of your reports and only shows the most important reports. Less important reports are being stopped. Ideal if you are working or you just don’t want to receive any notifications only the most important.

The limited interruptions focus is automatically added to the list of focusing as soon as your Apple Intelligence activates on your iPhone, iPad or Mac. You can find this focus under (system) settings and you can of course also switch on via the control panel.

Limit interruptions to use focus and allow only important reports to pass through

Of course you can further personalize this focus and, for example, always give certain apps and people access to sending reports. This works in the same way as all other focus parts, more information can be found here.

In addition, you can also use the option ‘Intelligent Piling and Stopping’ for any other focus. When this setting is engaged and the focus is active, it is intelligent that important reports interrupt you and non-important reports are stopped.
