Synchronous iPhone display: full access to your iPhone on a Mac via mirroring

Unfortunately not yet available in the EU

Since macOS Sequoia, Mac users can operate their iPhone from their Mac using synchronous iPhone display. Unfortunately, this function is not yet available in the EU OWV the DMA legislation.

Apple has decided not to make the app available for all users in the EU for the time being, even if you change the language of your Mac. Outside the EU, for example on vacation, you can use the function. We explain how iPhone Mirroring works on a Mac.

Synchronous iPhone display for Mac

Since macOS Sequoia, continuity has become even more versatile with synchronous iPhone display. With that you have full access to your iPhone on your Mac and you can also operate it from your Mac. You see your background and symbols exactly as they are on your iPhone, you can swipe through the different pages of the home screen and also use your favorite apps. You operate your iPhone with the keyboard, the trackpad and the mouse of your Mac, and the audio also comes from the Mac speakers.

You can even drag files between your iPhone and Mac without any difficulty. Moreover, your iPhone has been locked all this time, so that nobody sees what you are doing. Stand-by also works well in the synchronous iPhone display, so that you can see important information at a glance. And if you get a notification on your iPhone, you can respond to it directly from your Mac.

Unfortunately, synchronous iPhone display is not yet available in the EU, because Apple first wants to investigate whether this position meets European legislation.

Use iPhone Mirroring on a Mac

Strangely enough, the synchronous iPhone display application is already visible for users in the EU. After opening you will see a warning that the application cannot be used in the country or region where you are. Yet you can use the app when you are outside the EU, it works as follows:

  • Open the synchronous iPhone display app
  • Runs through the first steps
  • Unlock your iPhone to start the coupling
  • Determine whether you want to receive iPhone notifications on your Mac
  • Click on ‘Get started’

The above are the first steps you will go through when you start the application for the first time. You can then open the app and unlock your iPhone to access your Mac. You can then unlock your iPhone and use it on the Mac.

Using iPhone on Mac

Start the synchronous iPhone display app and possibly unlock your iPhone to access the device. You can then operate and use your entire iPhone on your Mac. You use your iPhone on the Mac exactly the same as loose. All apps function entirely on your Mac and it is even possible to use tools such as the control panel, widgets and more.

Using iPhone on Mac

Transfer files

With synchronous iPhone display you can transfer files, photos, videos and other parts between your Mac and iPhone in supported apps. To transfer a file, drag it from your Mac to the Synchronous iPhone display window or vice versa.

iPhone received notifications on your Mac

When you have linked your iPhone to your Mac, it is possible to always receive your iPhone notifications on your Mac. As soon as a notification arrives on your iPhone, it also appears on your Mac. Of course it is a smart system and only the notification is displayed that do not have a corresponding app on your Mac.

As soon as you click on the message, the synchronous iPhone display application is opened and the relevant app in the display is shown. Do you not want to receive notifications? Then you can disable this via:

  • Open  â–¸ System settings
  • Go to ‘reports’
  • In the overview, click ‘Reports of iPhone
  • Switch off the desired options

Do you no longer want to use this function? Then you can disable this via Settings â–¸ General â–¸ AirPlay and Continuity â–¸ Synchronous iPhone view â–¸ Change and remove the desired Macs.

Privacy during iPhone Mirroring

During the use of synchronous iPhone display, it is not necessary to unlock your iPhone. You can fully use the function when the device is locked, so that nobody sees what you are doing. In addition, it is an encrypted and local connection between your iPhone and Mac, no data is stored online.
