Using an iPhone and even an iPad you can take beautiful Live Photos. With this feature it is possible to bring your photos to life, ideal for fireworks photosbut also during shows, sports competitions, holidays and more.
When taking a Live Photo, the iPhone or iPad automatically films a few seconds before and after taking the photo, which is then converted into a beautiful Live Photo without loss of quality.
High quality
With a Live Photo you have always a photo in high quality which can be compared to a ‘normal’ photo, when you press firmly on the screen or place your finger on the photo it will come to life. The Live Photo is played together with recorded sound, if you take a photo of the sea you will see and hear the surf in the Live Photo.
Activate Live Photos
- Open the Camera application
- Navigate to the ‘Photo’ option
- Choose the front or rear camera
- Tap the crossed out circles at the top of the window

Depending on the installed iOS software, the icon will turn yellow or no longer be crossed out. The text ‘LIVE’ will appear at the top of the camera window so you know Live Photos is enabled correctly. While taking a Live Photo you can also use other effects and settings such as flash, filters, HDR, etc.
Live Photos can be taken on all iPhones and iPads from the iPhone 6s (plus), iPhone SE and iPad Pro 9.7″.
Take Live Photos
Once the feature is enabled, you can take the photos. It is best to hold the iPhone or iPad as still as possible, tap the subject on the screen you want to focus on, wait a few moments and tap the camera button to take the photo.
While the Live Photo is being taken, ‘LIVE’ will appear at the top of the screen. Hold your iPhone or iPad as still as possible as long as ‘LIVE’ remains on the screen. Once this is gone you have taken a Live Photo and can view it in the Photos application. To view the Live Photo, open the photo in the Photos application and place your finger on the photo to bring it to life.
