Videos and photos you share on Snapchat disappear after a few seconds. You can replay them or take screenshots, but your friends will get notifications. There is a solution.
Take Snapchat screenshot
Snapchat is a popular app for keeping in touch with friends and followers through photos and videos. It is an app without a timeline, but it is made for the ‘now’. After you have seen a video or photo, it will disappear after a few seconds. Then you can look at it one more time, then it is really gone.
It is therefore not the intention to keep photos longer. Only the sender can save snapshots and videos before they are sent. If someone does take a screenshot of your photo, you will be notified. For example, Snapchat tries to discourage people from taking screenshots, so that photos don’t get left around. Otherwise, at least you know which of your friends has the photo.

That is how it works
If you still want to save a photo and make sure that the other does not know, there is a solution. But beware: handle this tip responsibly.
- If you get a Snapchat that you want to keep, swipe up from the bottom of the screen;
- You now open the Control Panel, choose the airplane icon to turn on airplane mode (that will take you completely offline);
- Then swipe the screen down and take a screenshot with your iPhone (press home button and power button at the same time);
- After taking the screenshot, go to the ‘camera window’ of Snapchat and tap the ghost at the top of the screen;
- Choose the gear to go to the settings and tap ‘Log out’;
- Close the app by pressing the home button twice and swiping up Snapchat;
- Get your iPhone out of airplane mode and turn your Wi-Fi back on.
Unopened Snap
It takes some work, but now you have a screenshot, without anyone ever noticing. If you reopen Snapchat now, the photo you just saved will look unopened. This makes it seem like no one has ever seen it, let alone that someone knows you took a screenshot.
