Apple revives old times and lets you talk to friends through your Apple Watch. This is everything you need to know about Walkie-Talkie.
“This is how Walkie-Talkie works on the Apple Watch, over”
Walkie-Talkie is an app on your Apple Watch that allows you to take turns sending short voice messages to friends, just like in the old days. Before we begin, it’s important to know that both you and your friend must be running watchOS 5. In addition, the app works from the second generation Apple Watch.
You have to add comrades before you can talk to them. You do this like this:
- Open the Walkie-Talkie app on your Apple Watch;
- Tap the yellow plus icon and choose a friend;
- Wait for your friend to accept the invitation.
Until the invitation is accepted, the contact image will remain gray. Only after your friend has accepted the request can you talk to each other. Walkie-Talkie uses FaceTime audio on your iPhone, so make sure to use this app.
Send messages to friends
After adding friends, you can send audio messages to each other. This is very easy:
- Open the Walkie-Talkie app on your Apple Watch;
- Scroll through the list and choose a friend;
- Press and hold the talk button and say something.
Do you see ‘Connecting’ on the screen? Then you have to wait until Walkie-Talkie has made contact. Everything you say at that moment will not be sent. As soon as the connection is successful, your friend will automatically receive a notification that you want to have a conversation.
Does all those messages drive you a little crazy? Then you can easily disable Walkie-Talkie. Open the Apple Watch app and slide the toggle for ‘Available’ to the left. If you now receive an audio message, you will first be asked if you want to talk. You can keep annoying friends out.
