An anti-nausea tea can calm your stomach and restore your well-being. We’ll show you an overview of which types of tea naturally relieve nausea.
Nausea is a very unpleasant feeling. It can have various causes. Some of them are:
- Upset stomach
- nervousness
- Food intolerances
- migraine
- pregnancy
Regardless of whether you have a queasy stomach, are struggling with nausea or are dizzy: the symptoms of nausea are often difficult to bear. A warm tea can provide relief. It is important that you do not drink your tea too hot – ideally it should only be slightly warmer than your body temperature. If possible, you should avoid solid food until the nausea has passed.
Important: When buying teas for nausea, you should pay attention to organic quality and a Fairtrade seal. It’s not just the working conditions and wages on the tea plantations that are often poor in conventional cultivation. Unfortunately, many herbal teas are also contaminated with chemical-synthetic pesticides, which would further irritate your stomach. In addition, the chemical-synthetic plant toxins on conventional tea plantations are bad for the environment, workers and residents.
Herbal tea for nausea: fennel, caraway and anise

If your nausea lasts for several days, you should definitely see a doctor. Until then, you can try various herbal teas to relieve nausea.
Due to its wide range of uses, fennel is an extremely popular medicinal plant. Among other things, it works thanks to the essential oils and bitter substances
- digestive
- anti-inflammatory
- antispasmodic
- expectorant
You can use fennel tea against nausea, but also for flatulence and stomach cramps – especially if these are caused by too much or the wrong food.
A mixture of fennel, caraway and anise is also particularly suitable as a tea against nausea. Caraway and anise are also plants that are known for their digestive effects and help the stomach to calm down quickly.
Ginger as a tea for nausea

Ginger is not only known for its healthy ingredients, but also for its effect on nausea:
- Ginger root is said to be able to help people who get seasick and struggle with motion sickness.
- Similar to medicinal preparations, the tuber inhibits certain messenger substances in the vomiting center of the brain and thus effectively relieves nausea. If you use ginger prophylactically, the nausea can stop altogether.
- According to a study, ginger is even said to help against nausea caused by chemotherapy.
- Only when it comes to pregnancy does science disagree: Although the ginger bulb is also said to help against nausea during pregnancy, ginger is said to be able to trigger contractions at the same time. Therefore, it is generally not recommended for use during pregnancy.
Tip: In addition to a tea to combat nausea, you can also use ginger water or ginger oil to relieve symptoms.
Chamomile tea for nausea

Chamomile can especially help you with digestive problems. If the symptoms arise from this, chamomile can also be used as a tea against nausea in such cases:
- The antibacterial effect helps against pathogens in gastrointestinal diseases. Chamomile also soothes the stomach lining.
- If you have heartburn or gastritis, the mucilage in chamomile neutralizes excess acid production in the stomach.
The effective ingredients include essential oils as well as flavonoids and cumerins.
To optimally prepare chamomile tea, you need about three grams of dried real chamomile per cup. Let the tea steep for about ten minutes before removing the flowers.
Other types of tea for nausea
Every body is different and reacts differently to plants and their ingredients. Just try out which types of tea relieve your nausea. When in doubt: “Wait and drink tea.”
Other types of tea that can help against nausea include lemon balm and lemon balm as well as lavender, basil and peppermint. You can find more information about it and the recipes here:

Extra tip: Wormwood is one of the bitterest herbs there is. The bitter substances contained in wormwood tea also help effectively against nausea. If you can tolerate the bitter taste, you can use wormwood as a tea to combat nausea. Because the herb is so intense, it should not be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding or if you have sensitive digestion. You should also not use wormwood tea for more than two weeks at a time.
