For a while it seemed over with the ultimate classic among games: Tetris. But the alternative was not long in coming. iPhoned has tested the new Tetris game from developer N3TWORK.
Tetris review
Earlier this week it was announced that the classics of the games Tetris and Tetris Blitz from EA-Games will no longer be available in the App Store from April 21, and will no longer be playable. Fortunately, a new Tetris game was quickly added to the App Store by game developer N3TWORK.
The nostalgic game works as you are used to. One by one blocks come down in a certain shape and you have to place them in such a way that you completely fill the rows.
Simple but effective
The game is simple with few options, but has everything you need. There is a scoreboard and you can choose from five different themes. You can choose a cute monster, a toy room or, for the real old gameboy fans: a pixel-like 8-bit theme. That’s different from the EA version of Tetris, where you just have one theme.

Although it is a very simple game, it is still fun to play. It’s puzzling, tactics and speed in one. The game also gets faster and faster as you reach higher levels, which keeps it challenging.
Intuitive Controls
The controls are very intuitive. You tap to rotate a block into the desired position. You swipe left or right to move the block and swipe the block down to make it fall faster.
You can often move the block to the left or right at the last moment, to drag the net under something. It is also very handy that you can already see in dotted lines at the bottom where the block will end up if you drop it in a certain orbit.

Less speed than Tetris Blitz
The new Tetris game is certainly similar to EA’s Tetris. It even has a similar logo. But despite it being challenging due to the increasing speed, the game remains fairly monotonous. Not much change in it.
Tetris Blitz is less monotonous than the classic game. Here you immediately see all options where you can place a block and you only have to click on it. Meanwhile, there are also blocks from below, so you have to act quickly. With all kinds of combos you ensure that the playing field is not completely full.
Unfortunately, Tetris Blitz will no longer be playable from April. It is therefore hoped that the makers of this new classic version of Tetris will also release a similar version of Tetris Blitz.
