The week is over and that means that a fresh app overview is waiting for you! As far as we are concerned, you should not miss these new apps, games and updates. You can find the best iOS apps from week 13 (2018) here.
The best iOS apps at a glance
The App Store works overtime every week to handle the never-ending stream of new apps and updates. However, you will hardly notice this, because only a small part of it is worth installing. If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch can use some new apps, you’ve come to the right place.
1. Gero Lifespan
Gero Lifespan is an app that calculates how old you are going to live on the basis of your movement pattern. The program includes a pedometer, keeps track of how long you sleep and how many ‘activity changes’ you experience per day. For example, this looks at how often you get up from your chair per day.
The app mainly uses data from the Health app for this. Fitbit data can also be linked. In the Health app, for example, you have the ‘Bedtime’ function that keeps track of how long you sleep, and helps you to arrive at a healthy number for you. Gero Lifespan uses this personal information in combination with data from more than 100,000 test subjects to estimate your life expectancy. Every week you will receive a report that shows whether your remaining life has increased or decreased.

2. Armello
Fan of board games and looking for the next step? Armello brings a board game to life, combining Game of Thrones and Settlers of Catan. The goal is to chase the king off the opponent’s throne. This can be done in various ways, for example by collecting fame or invoking evil forces.
To achieve this, each player does quests, for example reaching a specific space on the game board. Everyone is busy with their own goals in this way, but you also meet each other and then the fight is blown. A combination of dice and the statistics of your heroes determine the result. The game is unfortunately a bit on the slow side.

3. Darkroom
Darkroom, a popular and comprehensive photo editor for iOS, has received a major update. The most important addition are filters that take the depth in a photo into account. This gives you more control over the foreground and background of a snapshot, and you can adjust how strong the blur effect is in the background.
Even if you have made filters that ‘play’ with depth ‘, you can use them in Darkroom. Furthermore, integration with Halide has been added, another great photo app for your iPhone. That app recently received support for the TrueDepth camera of the iPhone X.
