The 4 best iOS apps in the App Store from week 19 – 2018

The week is over and that means that a fresh app overview is waiting for you! As far as we are concerned, you should not miss these new apps, games and updates. You can find the best iOS apps from week 19 (2018) here.

The best iOS apps at a glance

The App Store works overtime every week to handle the never-ending stream of new apps and updates. However, you will hardly notice this, because only a small part of it is worth installing. If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch can use some new apps, you’ve come to the right place.

1. Gmail

It is now possible to snooze emails in Gmail. The new feature is useful when you receive an email, but do not immediately have time to respond to it. By snoozing the email, you postpone it until a later moment to clear the message. The email will then reappear in your inbox.

Postponing an email is simple: tap the message and then the button at the top right (with the three dots) to open the options. Select ‘Snooze’ here and choose a time when you want to be reminded of the e-mail again. That could be later today, for example, but also tomorrow or only at the weekend. Gmail also recently got a new look, with a range of new features such as smart reminders, English email smart replies and newsletter unsubscribe suggestions.

2. WhatsApp

Group conversation managers in WhatsApp get a number of useful options. For example, he or she can now set who has the right to change the name of the group, the group image and the group description. In addition, administrators can revoke administrator rights from group members.

The update also introduces a handy new feature for forwarding Facebook and Instagram videos. If you send a video from one of these social networks from now on, you can now open the link directly in WhatsApp. This means you do not switch apps and you can just watch the video in the chat window with a picture-in-picture window. Very handy, because this way you can watch a video while watching another conversation.

3. Apollo for Reddit

Apollo for Reddit is one of our favorite apps for reading Reddit. This week the app has been updated with a good list of new features with a lot of bug fixes as well. For example, gifs and videos now load a lot faster and you can choose which browser is used to open links. You can now also share messages directly from the overview, without having to open the post first.

The creator of Apollo is an ex-Apple employee who understands how Apple’s own iOS apps are designed and integrate with the operating system. Apollo adheres to these rules, making the app feel like it was made by Apple itself. The app also uses the Taptic Engine of the iPhone 7 and newer, so that you feel small taps during use.

4. Magicplan

With Magicplan you can redecorate and renovate your home, but on your iPhone. By ‘recording’ a virtual version of your house with ARKit, you can then make all kinds of adjustments. This way you immediately see what a certain renovation will look like and an estimate of the costs. You can also create a new furniture layout for your office space or living room, for example.

Magicplan can also be a useful tool to show a contractor what you have in mind with a renovation. You do this with a comparison with an actual floor plan of your house. This way you can easily visualize what you have in mind.
