The week is over and that means that a fresh app overview is waiting for you! In our opinion, you should not miss these new apps, games and updates. You can find the best iOS apps of week 22 (2018) here.
The best iOS apps at a glance
The App Store works overtime every week to handle the never-ending stream of new apps and updates. However, you will hardly notice this, because only a small part of it is worth installing. If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch can use some new apps, you’ve come to the right place.
1. Philips Hue 3.0
Philips has done its best to make the Hue app a bit easier in daily use. The app looks completely different, with a stylish black design that makes the bright colors of the Hue lamps stand out a lot better.
In addition, the scenes have been overhauled. Thirty new preset scenes are waiting for you, which can give a room a specific color combination at the touch of a button. Even more fun is the option to create a scene yourself based on a photo from your Camera Roll. For example, choose that one holiday snapshot with a setting sun and all the lights in your room mimic exactly that color.
2. Pocket Run Pool
Pocket Run Pool is the latest game from game maker Zach Gage, known for Really Bad Chess and Flipflop Solitaire, among others. Once again he takes a well-known concept and gives it a unique twist. This time it is pool, in which you have to push the balls with a certain score into the hole with the highest doubler. The game plays away so well that you start a new game every time.
A limited version of the game is free. You can then do a ‘standard run’, in which you try to collect as many points as possible. You can also participate in a tournament. If you pay 4.49 euros once, you will unlock the full game, ads will be removed and you can play the ‘Break of the Week’.
3. NLLOOKS
Apple TV owners have gained an important reason never to touch a set top box again. Thanks to NLZIET’s new Apple TV app, you can now watch NPO, RTL and SBS channels directly on Apple’s black box. With the built-in TV guide you can easily see which programs are coming, which you can also watch up to seven days ago.
Handy if you missed a movie or series and still want to see it at a later time. Because the NLZIET app has made for tvOS, the app also supports voice assistant Siri. That makes it easy to search for a specific broadcast with a simple voice command. The app has been tested for a while by more than 1,200 testers, who have passed on their feedback to make the app the best it can be.
4. Timelines
Timelines takes its name from the way the app works. The idea is simple: for each activity you start a new timeline and with 1 tap of a button you start keeping track of your time. You can then display these timelines exactly the way you want. If you like to have an overview, you can use the monthly overview, while you can also see what you have done per hour.
The app is very simple in design, but offers enough options for demanding users. For example, you can set reminders to help you turn on your timer. It is also possible to divide your timelines into several categories, so that you know how much time you spend on it per activity. Finally, Timelines has an Apple Watch app.
