The 4 best iOS apps in the App Store from week 26 – 2018

The week is over and that means that a fresh app overview is waiting for you! As far as we are concerned, you should not miss these new apps, games and updates. You can find the best iOS apps from week 26 (2018) here.

The best iOS apps at a glance

The App Store works overtime every week to handle the never-ending stream of new apps and updates. However, you will hardly notice this, because only a small part of it is worth installing. If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch can use some new apps, you’ve come to the right place.

1. BetterMe

Meditation seems to be gaining in popularity. The advantages are therefore obvious: more peace of mind, a better night’s sleep and less worries. Yet many find it difficult to find the time for it every day. BetterMe is a nice entry-level for those people. To start with the most important promise: BetterMe has the slogan that the app is aimed at people who cannot meditate. Most people have tried to sit in a chair and monitor their breathing, but cannot sustain it.

BetterMe therefore approaches it in a different way. In the ‘Moments’ menu you choose meditations where you are not passive, but active. During the walking meditation, for example, it is about consciously working with the steps you take, and not with your thoughts.

2. Telegram

WhatsApp competitor Telegram is used by millions of people and is a bit better with the latest update. The major improvement in version 4.8.3 is that you can replace sent media. It might happen that you accidentally send the wrong image to someone. From now on you do not have to remove the image first and then send the correct one, but you can simply replace the image.

You do this by tapping it, holding it for a moment, choosing ‘Edit’ and then pressing the paperclip to replace the image. You can also add captions to images that didn’t have that yet. In addition, a handy option has been added for audio and video messages. A new button allows you to play an audio or video file at 2X speed, so you can hear what your conversation partner has to say sooner. This is especially nice if you receive an audio message of a few minutes, and do not have the time or desire to listen to it completely.

3. Pokémon Quest

It’s time to collect Pokémon again, but this time different from what you’re used to. In Pokémon Quest, your Pokémon friends automatically move on an island. There they encounter other creatures that they attack on their own.

It’s up to you to deploy special attacks in time to survive the increasingly difficult levels. Cooking collected items will lure new Pokémon to your camp. You can then take those new friends on the road again on the island.

4. NPO Start for Apple TV

With the NPO Start app it is now easy to watch programs from the Public Broadcasting on your Apple TV. The app is an extension of the NPO Start app, which has been available on the iPhone and iPad for some time. With that you could of course start a program on your iPhone and stream it with AirPlay to your Apple TV, but a full tvOS app is a lot easier.

The tvOS app of the NPO also does exactly what you expect it to do: provide clear access to the offer of the Public Broadcasting. You can watch series such as The Bridge, but also documentaries and popular programs such as Ik Departure. Live viewing is also included, but only for the three TV channels of the NPO. In addition, a handy TV guide has been built into the app that connects seamlessly with the rest of the app.
