The week is over and that means that a fresh app overview is waiting for you! As far as we are concerned, you should not miss these new apps, games and updates. You can find the best iOS apps from week 29 here.
The best iOS apps at a glance
The App Store works overtime every week to handle the never-ending stream of new apps and updates. However, you will hardly notice this, because only a small part is worth installing. If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch can use some new apps, you’ve come to the right place.
1. Wilson FM
Wilson FM is a new way for podcast enthusiasts to discover new podcasts. Wilson FM is a weekly podcast magazine via an app. Curators pick out the best podcast episodes once or twice a week. They do this based on themes, so that each time there is a list that is coordinated with each other.
The app does not use an algorithm to give each user personal suggestions for podcasts, but publishes an online magazine that they compile every week. This makes it unnecessary to create an account for the app. Wilson FM is primarily intended to help users discover without being swayed by trending or featured episodes.
2. VLC
VLC has had a major update, now supporting Chromecast on iOS. With VLC Chromecast iPhone support you can now easily stream a movie from your iPhone or iPad to your TV. This allows you to watch a series or movie on your iPhone or iPad on the go, and when you return home, send it directly to your Chromecast in your TV to continue watching on the big screen.
Other new features have been added to the media player app. For example, you can now watch 360-degree videos by turning your iPhone around and a number of annoying bugs have been fixed. These prevent you from seeing certain video files and make the app faster and more stable.

3. Visits
You can use the Visits app to keep track of all the places you visit and gain insight into where you can often be found unconsciously. Visits automatically keeps track of which places you have visited. A big advantage is that the app does not collect your location data and Visits does not share data with advertisers or other third parties. For example, if you use the similar app Google Maps Timeline, this will happen.
Keeping track of your locations via your iPhone is also possible, but Apple has hidden this list of frequently visited locations in the Settings menu. It is also not always on by default. Via Visits you can see the data faster and you can also find more information per location. Your location history can be viewed as a list by day or marked on a map. Drive back to that one location through the navigation info the app gives you or share the location with friends.
4. Instagram
Instagram improves its two-step verification to keep hackers out. It is currently already possible to secure your account with an SMS code, although this code can also be intercepted and therefore less secure.
That’s why Instagram will soon add the option to use two-step verification via a third-party app like Google Authenticator or Authy. This app continuously generates six-digit codes that are renewed after a few seconds. This makes it very difficult for a hacker to gain access to the login details of your account and the correct authentication code in that short time.
It is not yet clear when the new security will be available, although a developer discovered that Instagram is currently testing a version in the Android version of the app.
