The week is over and that means that a fresh app overview is waiting for you! As far as we are concerned, you should not miss these new apps, games and updates. You can find the best iOS apps from week 37 here.
The best iOS apps at a glance
The App Store works overtime every week to handle the never-ending stream of new apps and updates. However, you will hardly notice this, because only a small part is worth installing. If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch can use some new apps, you’ve come to the right place.
1. Spotify
Spotify Premium subscribers can suddenly listen to a lot more songs offline. Spotify has significantly increased the song download limit. First you could download 3333 songs per device so that you can play them offline. Spotify lets you connect three devices, so you could first listen to a total of 9999 songs whenever you want.
Now you can store a maximum of 10,000 numbers per device, and the number of allowed paired devices has also been increased to five. So in total you can download 50,000 songs for offline use. You have to store a lot of playlists to reach that limit, but at least you never have to worry about deleting songs from your offline music database in Spotify.
2. Instagram
Instagram has added a function in the latest update that makes you respond a lot faster. That is, if you often use emojis. The app has added an emoji shortcut bar that appears when you want to comment under a post. The bar is above the typing bar and shows your most used icons. Do you still want to use a different emoji? Then you will still have to search and select it in the old way.

In addition, the emoji function only appears when you reply to a post. When you are making a post yourself or responding to an Instagram Story, the bar does not appear. According to the company, the reactions under a photo are the place where emojis are most often used.
3. NOS
The NOS app has had a nice update, with which they want to make it even easier for people to read the latest news via the app. This way you can now save articles if you want to read them later, for example. From now on, a bookmark icon will appear at the top right of every article. When you have saved articles in this way, the list of topics will show ‘Saved articles’ at the top of the menu.
NOS has previously added a dark theme to the news app, but thanks to this update it can now be switched on or off per article. Ideal if you prefer a white background during the day and enjoy reading at night with a dark theme.
The same goes for the font size of the text. From now on, this can be adjusted per article via the same icon. Finally, it has become easier to browse all the photos and videos in an article. When you click on a photo, you can easily swipe through all added media.
4. Google Assistant
The Google Assistant can now also tell you the latest news in Dutch. The smart voice assistant offers news from various Dutch sources. If you want to be informed of the news within a few minutes, you can compile a news bulletin yourself from sources that you find important. For this you can choose from eleven different news sources, including NOS, ANP, NU.nl, Omroep Brabant and BNR Nieuwsradio.
When you now ask the Google Assistant for the latest news, it will read a selection to you. For example, by saying ‘Listen to the news from NU.nl’, you get news from a specific source. In the settings of the speech assistant app you can adjust the selection of sources that the Assistant reads to you to your own taste. There is a good chance that more news sources will become available for the Google Assistant in the near future.
