Before the new week starts, let’s take a look back at the past few days. The iPhoned editors have rounded up this week’s best iPhone apps and updates for you.
This week’s best iPhone apps and games
The App Store is working overtime every week. New apps, updates to existing programs and all kinds of games are popping up all the time. You will probably not notice this much, because most of it is not worth downloading. Every Sunday iPhoned therefore separates the wheat from the chaff. Here are the best iPhone apps and updates from last week.
1. Fate of Kai
Fate of Kai is a puzzle game, but that category doesn’t quite cover it. The game has the layout of a magic book with a nice painterly style and an inspiring story. You walk through each chapter like a kind of maze. Along the way you try to steer the ideas of the characters in the game in the right direction.
Once your character has a thought, you can change it to overcome puzzles and other obstacles. That way you also decide where the story goes. There are 160 pages in the comic book that tell you a unique story. Highly recommended!
2. Arc the Lad R
Arc the Lad is a sequel to the console game of the same name, in which a major disaster took place and half the city was destroyed. Under the leadership of Princess Sania, the city was rebuilt again. Now the main character Halt is on his way to rescue a girl in need from a nearby village.
Arc the Lad R is basically a traditional roleplaying game, so tactical combat is also involved. It is therefore important that you give your characters the best skills they can use in the heat of battle. The app is free to download, so take a look.
3. Sense – Mood tracker & Journal
If you keep track of how you feel, you will discover patterns in your behavior. This can help prevent depression and deal with stress better. Sense – Mood tracker & Journal is a handy assistant. You give a daily assessment of your mood, enter what you have done and add photos and texts if necessary.

Graphs show how your well-being develops from day to day. This way you can see which activities (and people!) make you happy and which make you feel down. Then, of course, it’s up to you to change that. The basic features are free, but you have to pay for the more in-depth analysis. After the 3-day trial period, the Pro version costs 1.99 euros per week, 6.99 per month or 24.99 per year.
4. Batteries
Are you always concerned whether the battery of your Apple devices is still sufficiently charged? You can of course keep an eye on all your devices, but that is not very useful. Fortunately, Apple has a Battery widget that you can add your iPhone, iPad, AirPods, and Apple Watch to. This way you can immediately see the battery percentage of all your devices. However, it doesn’t work on the Mac.

That’s why Batteries is so handy. This app works on both iOS and macOS. This way you can see on your MacBook how the battery of your iPhone or AirPods is. It also works the other way around. You can easily check on your iPad whether your MacBook still has enough energy. Batteries is a simple, but very useful app. It costs a one-time 3.49 euros.
