The new week is just around the corner, but before that, let’s take a look back at the last seven days. The editors of iPhoned has rounded up the best iOS apps, games and updates from last week.
Last week’s 5 best iOS apps
The App Store is working overtime every week. New apps, updates for existing programs and games are added all the time. You probably don’t notice this much, because most of it is not worth downloading. iPhoned therefore separate the wheat from the chaff every Sunday. Here are this week’s best iOS apps, updates, and games.
1. Split
The app Splitt has a completely new app. This payment app is specially made for groups. This way you never have to keep track of who pays what during a group outing or for a joint gift, for example. Splitt is linked to your bank account. Together you keep track of all group expenses in the app, which are then credited or debited to your account within 1 to 3 days.
In the app you create a group account with a group of friends. All expenses are listed in a timeline. It no longer matters who makes which payment, because you can determine who participates per expense. You also choose the exact amount per person, for example if someone drinks or eats something different than the rest. Every morning at 8 a.m. your final balance is calculated and the app credits or debits the correct amount.

2. NL Alert
The official NL Alert app was released this week. This app provides more information and options than the standard emergency notification. The app was developed on behalf of the Ministry of Justice and Security, which makes the app more reliable than unofficial NL Alert apps. Just like a regular NL Alert, this app sends you a notification in the event of a serious incident in your area.

However, the central government warns that the app is not a replacement for the normal NL Alert notifications. The app serves as a supplement to the standard notification via the emergency notifications. In addition, the app always needs permission to your location data to work properly.

3. 9292
The well-known public transport app 9292 has been completely renewed. It was about time, because the service had to do without updates for more than a year. The app has a simpler and clearer design. The new design has also given the existing functions a new place. For example, you can no longer select additional travel options in advance, but they will only appear once you have entered a destination.

In addition, you now have the option to personalize your home screen. You do this by opening the app and tapping ‘Edit’ in the top right corner on the home screen. A new window will then appear in which you can add additional widgets by pressing the plus button. Are you not traveling alone or do you want to save a route description for later? Then you can also share travel advice or add it to your calendar.
4. Castlevania: Symphony of the Night
The classic Castlevania has made the switch to iOS. In this pixelated action game you play as a vampire hunter. You fight against all kinds of monsters that are attacking the city led by Dracula.
The Netflix series of the same name is based on this game. The fact that the game is now available on iOS does not mean that the game has also been renewed: it still looks exactly the same as the original game from the 1990s. Pure nostalgia for the connoisseurs!
5. Battle Racing Stars
The name says it all: you race with a character and try to slow down your opponents along the way. You do that by shooting them. Unlike traditional racing games, you are not in a kart, but you try to run across the finish line.
The gameplay works very easily. You swipe up or down to switch floors. In some places you go faster, so switching between floors is recommended. Along the way you will come across ammunition to shoot at your opponents. A simple but very entertaining game.
