The 5 best iOS apps in the App Store from week 33 – 2019

It’s Sunday again and that means a fresh app overview is ready for you! We don’t think you should miss these new apps, games and updates. These are this week’s best iOS apps.

The 5 best iOS apps in a row

Every week the App Store works overtime to accommodate all new apps, updates and games. You probably notice this, because only a small part is worth installing. Can’t see the forest for all the trees? Then get inspired with this overview of iOS apps that are worth downloading.

1. Gmail

In Gmail you can now send emails that delete themselves, cannot be printed and cannot be downloaded. Gmail’s most recent update adds a nice new feature with confidential mode. Just like in apps like WhatsApp, Instagram and Snapchat, you can send a message that deletes itself after a certain time.

You can choose to leave an email for a minimum of one day and a maximum of five years, after which the entire content will be deleted from the recipient’s mailbox. You can also choose to set an access code, so that not everyone can view the content just like that. Handy if you know that someone shares their inbox with several people. In this tip, we explain how Gmail Confidential Mode works.

2. Rogue Legacy

Rogue Legacy has been a popular indie game on consoles for years, but is now also making the switch to the iPhone and iPad. In Rogue Legacy, you take on the role of a knight who explores a large castle overflowing with monsters and bosses. If you die, the son or daughter of this knight takes over and you get a new attempt with him or her.

That way you get one step further and unlock new upgrades, so that it slowly but surely becomes a bit easier to string the endless stream of skeletons and monsters to your sword. Highly recommended for anyone who likes to play games on their iDevice.

3. Telegram

WhatsApp competitor Telegram updates the app with some nice improvements. This way you can now send silent messages that do not disturb the other person. The latest Telegram update seems to be made for people who are annoyed by an excessive amount of messages. With two new functions it is now possible to receive messages without the app playing a sound. You can also set a limit in group conversations so that group members have to wait a certain amount of time before they can speak again.

The new ‘Silent Message’ feature does exactly what its name implies: it sends messages without sound, regardless of whether or not the recipient has their iPhone sound on. The recipient will receive a notification, but without a sound. Handy if you want to send someone something, but it is not so important that you want to distract the person.

4. Heart Analyzer

This popular app for the iPhone and Apple Watch provides comprehensive information about your heart rate, with numerous graphs and statistics not found in Apple’s standard Health app. This week’s update adds a PDF export feature, which can be useful for people with heart problems who can easily share a monthly summary with their doctor.

The interface of the app has also been renewed, so that it is easier to find your way around the large amount of functions. Heart Analyzer is free to download and includes in-app purchases to unlock all features.

5. Plex

Popular video app Plex has released a major update to its Mac app. From now on you can also watch movies and series offline, provided you have saved them first, of course. From now on you will find these saved files in the new Downloads folder.

Also good to know: Plex will stop supporting the Plex Media Player in January 2020. Instead, the company recommends switching to this new desktop app or the Apple TV app.
